Del Sol has an area behind our pond that is maintained by one of our Del Sol resident, Joe Kohrs. Joe has been planting and unofficially sharing and showing his knowledge on growing vegetables and planting information to many of our Del Sol “home school” students and parents, recently. Along with many local plants and flowers, Joe also has a community garden planted with many fresh vegetables. There’s room for expansion of this learning garden, if there are other Del Sol residents wishing to join in.
Joe is very knowledgeable about our local trees and vegetables and has already facilitated many Del Sol visits with residents (kids and adults). He shares information about plants and growing techniques, and even shares resources, so if you have interest in visiting the Del Sol Community Garden and you want Joe to meet you out there, he would be glad to arrange a tour/class.
Gardening clubs provide a way for gardening enthusiasts to collaborate and learn. It also is a great resource for home-schoolers to get a little hands-on learning.
Residents are free to visit this area, but please be respectful of the plants and garden, but if you would like a guided tour, Joe has offered to lead hands-on tours and show attendees that vegetables just don’t show up in the grocery stores.
